Securus Technologies is extremely grateful to everyone in our customer service department. They are skillful in ensuring all customers leave Securus satisfied whether it’s a purchase or a question. So, when Securus representatives attended the Stevie Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 23, the reps returned with three wins. The Stevie Awards for Sales and Customer Service is the premier award for customer service excellence. Securus is proud to win Gold for Customer Service Complaints Team of the Year for our Corporate Escalations department. The Video Visitation team won Bronze for Front-Line Customer Service Team. Last, the Silver for Customer Service Professional of the Year goes to Securus’ own customer service manager, Zelperita Jackson.
In detail, feedback, suggestions, and concerns go to the appropriate department. The Corporate Escalations team tackles dissatisfied customers and takes the information to other departments in the company to prevent such complaints from resurfacing. The remaining feedback goes to management for evaluation. One concern heard from our customers was about drones in prisons. Drones carry contraband weapons, cell phones, drugs, and illegal items over the fence or on the roof to inmates on the inside. Once we learned this from correctional officers, Securus spent 18 months developing drone detection software to combat this growing and disturbing trend.
Drone detecting software detects moving drones flying near the facility or over the fence using a digital antennae structure infrastructure. Securus used the same antennae on Wireless Containment Solutions, so we know it’s effective. The software alerts correctional staff about incoming drones so the staff can block it, confiscate it, and confiscate the contrabands. The technology protects inmates and correctional staff from drone injury or contraband injury as well.
In closing, Securus uses customer complaints, criticisms, and positive feedback to keep inmates and society safe. It’s because of our customers that Securus continues to evolve.
Many inmates use contraband phones inside the prison, and it is not a secret anymore. One of the videos that went viral on different social networking platforms recently, taken by an inmate, showcased how easy it is to get contraband phones and other items inside the prison. The prison authorities, as well as the people, were in shock as to how the prisons, which are supposed to be highly secured, can have such security lapse. Securus Technologies, a leading correctional and criminal justice technology firm, recently came up with the solution to the contraband phone use menace. It rolled out the wireless containment solution, which would help in stopping any kind of illegal communications to happen from inside the prison. Any calls to and from the contraband phones would be banned, and the contraband phones would stop receiving any signals from the network carrier.
Securus Technologies feel that the use of contraband phones must be stopped at once as it is what is contributing heavily to the increase in crime rate recently. Securus Technologies is known for its lavish investments in developing new technologies, and for developing wireless containment solutions, the company has spent an upward of $40 million. The company says that it is dedicated to making the correctional facilities as well as the communities safer. There are many other factors that the company has been considering to help more and more prison facilities to start using wireless containment solutions as soon as possible. In a span of one year, the wireless containment solution was able to stop nearly 1.7 million unauthorized communications from inside the prisons in which it was installed.
One of the people who stand by the Wireless Containment System developed by Securus Technologies is Robert Johnson. I read one of his interviews and was amazed how far he has come after being attacked by one of the inmate’s associates. He suffered multiple gunshots but was able to save his wife who was sleeping when he was attacked. He managed to get his attention so that his wife could run out and get help. But, before his wife could call for help, he was shot many times. The ambulance arrived right on time, and he was taken to the hospital where the bullets were removed. Even though he spent six months in the hospital, he was able to make a full recovery.
After a thorough investigation, Robert came to know the person behind the attack was one of the inmates who was locked inside the prison where he was an officer. It was then he knew how dangerous cell phones could be, something that most of take for granted when we are free. Thus, he is pleading the prisons to install the new system within their facility as soon as they can so no one had to suffer as he did.
Securus Technologies is always on the move. It’s no surprise that the 30-year-old company based in Texas is undergoing major changes. Staying ahead of the game with Technology is just one of the few ways that Securus validates itself as an industry leader. The company specializes in correctional facility management. Providing technical support for facility staff, such as monitoring inmates, and providing management software barely scrape the surface of the services provided. For its external customers, Securus offers telecommunications services such as telephone calling plans, video visitation, and many other affordable options to keep in touch. The company has also been able to reduce the cost of communicating with inmates; a topic that was the source of many complaints among all service providers.
In order to stay ahead, Securus Technologies has acquired many companies over the years. Most recently, GovPayNet has joined the team. The company is in financial services, based in Indiana, and is over 20 years old. More specifically, GovPayNet processes payments for governmental facilities. Services include cash bail payments, traffic ticket payments, probation payments, and much more. The company was excited to join Securus, as it will open many more doors for the company. JPay, another Securus acquisition is currently working on technology to enhance the safety of correctional facilities. Wireless containment systems are currently in the testing phase and are expected to become mandatory in facilities.
Despite all the progress, Securus Technologies remains customer oriented. The company is best at connecting inmates with their loved ones. The communications services provided, are the services people associate the company with. The company recently became accredited with the Better Business Bureau. An “A+” rating was well deserved, as the company has been consciously improving its services offered, and customer service. Over 95 percent of customers are happy with the service Securus provides. With such a great record, it’ll be interesting to see what developments will be making headlines next.
Securus Technologies is one of the powerful leaders in inmate calling and puts the needs of their customers first. As an initial government regulated provider, Securus CEO, Rick Smith believes a customer feedback forum is very important in crime prevention. He has said it goes beyond incarceration and to be successful it must include their customers. Now, they proudly use their surveillance and monitoring tools to help with crime prevention. To date, their program has been responsible for preventing several crimes. Their measures have successfully become a part of their permanent inmate calling network to protect the safety of the general public.

Securus Technologies is a popular inmate network inviting customers to a secure network.
Securus Technologies is a leading national provider of communications to correctional institutions, safety organizations and law enforcement entities in North America. I am amazed that at the present time, Securus Technologies serves well over 1.2 million inmates and over 3,400 facilities.
I was genuinely impressed when I learned of the scope and excellence of the communications programs that Securus provides for inmates and families which allows them to stay in communication with each other. I can readily see how the morale of inmates and families are kept at high levels by having the ability to stay in touch.
Securus has several plans for families and inmates to utilize. These vary from Direct Billing, where the bill is sent to a responsible party, such as the family, Advance Connect, where the bill is paid in advance, usually by the family, Traditional Collect where the called party pays the charge, if they accept it, and Inmate Debit where the inmate pays for the call.
Another feature that is very positively received is the virtual video conferencing feature. With this plan, inmates and their families can meet online via a video conferencing setup. It is live screening and it saves the family the time and expense of driving to the correctional facility and waiting in line for the limited available space to see their incarcerated loved one.
An added feature to the Securus communications plan is the voice recognition security feature. This application is able to recognize who is speaking on the phone on both ends of the call. This is done to be on top of calls that could be used for criminal purposes, both in and out of a facility.
The ability to stop the proliferation of drugs, alcohol, criminal plans and other nefarious activities is enhanced by this feature. If inmates and those outside are aware of this feature they are less likely to attempt criminal activity.
Technology has become an important part of our lives without which it’s hard to survive these days. More or less every field is witnessing a massive growth due to the development of new technologies, and similar is the case in the correctional sphere. Many new technologies are being developed to help the inmates as well as the law enforcement agencies. One of the companies that have made an immense contribution to the correctional industry is Securus Technologies.
The company has developed highly efficient inmate communication services that allow the prisoners to communicate with their loved ones without having to spend a fortune. Even though there are many companies out there that offer a wide variety of inmate communications services, Securus Technologies has taken the lead due to its innovative inmate communication software and technology that is far more superior to what the counterparts offer.
Securus Technologies is also considered the market leader in the field of investigative technology. The services like LBS and Investigation PRO are highly admired by the law enforcement agencies, and it’s being used on a broad scale by many different companies across North America. At the moment, more than 3,400 law enforcement agencies are using the services of Securus Technologies, and it’s a figure that is expected to grow manifolds in the time to come as the company is on massive expansion mode. Securus Technologies plans to open up regional offices across the country to be able to market its products and services in other states as well.
The law enforcement fraternity greatly appreciates Securus Technologies because it can contribute tremendously to the industry. It has made the lives of law enforcement officers much easier and is also helping them stay safe on the line of duty. Securus Technologies is one of the most trusted names in the correctional industry.
When my team of crime scene investigators is working a case, we need to rely on a number of sources to provide us information that will lead to the capture of our fugitive. In many cases we are working with suspects who are working alone and do not have family or friends helping to keep them on the run. When we have little to go on, then we really have to increase our efforts on using past experiences to bring these suspects into custody.
We had a really troubling case we were working on because the suspect was committing crimes in our city but would blend right into the population with nothing as far as leads. We caught the suspect on a number of surveillance cameras, but his face was hidden and he was gone in seconds after committing those crimes. The only thing that we had going for us at this point was that we knew he was going to strike again this month.
With zero leads, we moved our efforts to the local jail, and began questioning inmates. While they didn’t talk to us directly, we must have hit a nerve because officers began picking up chatter on the inmate call monitoring system about our suspect. Securus Technologies recently put the new call system in that prison and have a history of incredible work with law enforcement. The company has one objective, making the world safe to live for all, and we were about to get a real glimpse into the workings of their system.
It appeared our visit upset one inmate who called his family to warn them that law enforcement might be coming to the house and to hide anything related to our suspect. That lead was the key to connecting the dots in this case and getting this suspect into custody quickly.
